Demolition begins when Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal), a very successful investment banker, loses his wife in an unfortunate traffic accident.

Does life consist of the only moment we breathe in, or is it a collection of past accumulated up to that moment? And while everything is being lived and consumed between “one and no one”, can the aftermath of the present moment, our dreams about the future, and our long-term plans be included in our lives.

As time shakes man in his cradle between the past and the future, the value of moments begins when we lose them; as long as we can feel it. Davis Mitchell gets caught in this complex definition of time at an unexpected moment in his life. Upon the sudden loss of his wife at a young age, the rest of his life awaits him to rebuild everything he has built up to that time. On the one hand, after his death, he has memories of his wife appearing like ghosts; On the other hand, his response to the letter of complaint he wrote to the manufacturing company for a broken vending machine and turned into a one-day sincerity becomes the new follower of his life. A dating story that begins with a letter touches Davis’ heart over time. But is Karen really the owner of this new door he knocked on, or is his wife reflected in every look at him? His hesitant personality makes Davis as a character unsolvable. His astonishing and absurd calmness in the face of the absurd events that happened to him, at least as much as these surprises, leaves us with undefined feelings towards what we watch.

Demolition, one of the successful examples of the drama genre with its fiction quite different from the classic, will leave you between smiling and surprised. Nevertheless, it shows how life can be reconstructed all over again. The film, which made a tremendous impact at national festivals, especially! He also managed to create “moments” that will not be erased from “memories” with his cast of strong faces such as Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts.
